HEPA Filter Support Mesh – Internal & External

HEPA filters, which stand for High Efficiency Particulate Air filters, are advanced air filters designed to remove small particles and contaminants from the air. They are highly efficient in capturing airborne particles as small as 0.3 micrometers with a high efficiency rate of 99.97%.

During HEPA filter production, the HEPA filter support mesh provides support and protection for filter media.

HEPA Filter Support Mesh Functions

HEPA filter support mesh has two main major functions: support & protection

Support.
GI diamond mesh can be used in combination with other materials, such as non-woven filter cloth, to create composite separators in HEPA filters. The expanded metal provides structural support and stability and helps create a more uniform spacing between pleats. It can also enhance the overall performance of the filter by providing additional filtration surfaces.

Protection.
In most cases, the support mesh is used as an external screen or protective layer for the filter. It provides a rigid and durable structure that helps protect the delicate filter media from physical impact and damage. They are placed on the outer side of the filter to protect the filter media and maintain its integrity. By using the support mesh as an external screen, HEPA filters can withstand handling, transportation, and operational stresses while maintaining their effectiveness in capturing particles. In addition, it can act as a protective barrier, preventing larger debris or contaminants from reaching and potentially damaging the filter media.
